Job Description

ACT Blade Ltd develops and commercialises the ACT Blade technology, a lightweight wind turbine blade. At this stage, the company is developing the ACT Blade product. ACT Blade is looking for a composite structure engineer with expertise in FE Analysis and design.

The candidate must have good attitude to carry out challenging tasks and be flexible with good communication skills.

Key responsibilities

  • As part of the ACT Blade R&D team, the composite structure FEA engineer will be responsible for:
    • Performing structural analysis using established tools
      • to influence design decisions
      • to demonstrate structural integrity against product requirements
      • to analyse structure failure
    • Look to increase efficiency of structure
    • Define design and technical requirements for fast prototyping and product development
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and partners (internal and external)
    • Ensure projects are delivered to client’s standards to cost and budget
  • Be able to make decisions and solve problems (problem solving and decision-making ability)
  • Works under supervision but uses initiative

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 5-years university or MSc equivalent in Mechanical/ Aerospace/ Material Engineering.
  • A minimum of two years of working experience using 3D CAD and FE-Analysis tools, Non-Linear analysis and composite structure analysis
  • A minimum of two years of working experience with prototyping
  • Some experience with the analysis of composite materials and Composite Structures
  • Must be fluent in English and able to write reports
  • Ability to integrate in a dynamically evolving team
